What is a Sub Acute Unit?
Sub Acute unit is a Specialized Unit within Skilled Nursing Facility, with its own Medical Director and its own Nursing Manager.
Sub Acute Medical Director is either a pulmonologist OR critical care specialist.
Sub Acute unit is staffed separately including, RNs, LVNs, CNAs and Respiratory Therapists.
Most patients are with a lung failure requiring tracheostomy and majority of them are on Ventilator.
Sub Acute Unit staff provides intensive skilled services including Total Parenteral Nutrition(TPN), Infusion Therapy, would care services etc.
Westlake Convalescent Hospital Sub Acute unit is equipped and licensed to provide in house hemodialysis services to patients who are on Ventilator.
Once patients are weaned off Ventilator, our Speech Therapist provides aggressive treatment to wean patients off gastrostomy tube feeding to start oral feeding.
